Rotary turned 100 years old in 2005.  This event was celebrated by Rotarians in a uniquely Rotarian way:  through service to the community.

The Rotary Club of Newark, through its Board of Directors, chose to pursue the idea of an Accessible Playground for all young people in our community.  As, such, the design features special equipment and ramps that enable children with disabilities to enjoy the playground.

The location is on the campus of The Ohio State University-Newark and Central Ohio Technical College and placed adjacent to the Newark Rotary pavilion.  The site features a 100-car paved parking lot and restroom facilities, and provides easy access to the bike path.

The plan for funding the playground is a collaborative effort involving many generous individuals, businesses, and organizations in our community.  Rotary members have pledged their support and support is also being sought through local businesses, manufacturers, and foundations to meet the cost of the project.

Project Costs
Site preparation and infrastructure          $205,000
Playground safety surface                         $220,000
Playground equipment                               $220,000
     Total Project Estimate                            $645,000
